 SUMMARY

The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

REVIEW

This is the prequel to The Lux Series, in which I greatly loved (I will do reviews for all of the books).I will give you a very brief introduction to the idea of the Lux series is. It is based on triplets, Dawson, Daemon and Dee who are aliens hidden in a mundane world, they go to school and everything they do is as ordinary and normal as it could possibly be for aliens.
This book is based on what happened to Daemon’s brother Dawson, who is missing in the first book, Obsidian.
Bethany, is the new girl in school. Dawson is instantly intrigued by her and starts speaking to her, only to later fall in love with her.
However there is a big secret looming overhead, and that secret hasn't yet been told to Bethany, at least it hadn't until they had a totally hot make out session where perhaps it got all too heated for Dawson. To cut a long story short, he lit up like a Christmas tree light, scaring Beth and forcing Dawson to tell her the truth. That he is an alien.
As you can probably imagine none of this would've happened if Dawson had followed the advice that Daemon gave Dawson and that was “Stay away from human girls, they only mean trouble”, however later Daemon is a complete hypocrite and doesn't take his own advice. Being with a Human girl means that there is a higher chancer to them being exposed and the DOD would end that relationship, by killing both of them (or that’s what they think).
And by the end of the book, Dawson and Bethany disappear and Dee and Daemon only can assume the worst. That they have been killed.

FIRST SENTENCES

A Shadow glided over the frozen hills, moving too quick to likely be cast by something of this Earth. Being that it really wasn't attached to anything that was a sure sign of where it was and where it was heading.

MY FAVOURITE QUOTE/CONVERSATION

“What?" he demanded.
"Did you just...clean a dish?" Dee backed away slowly, blinking. She glanced at Daemon. "The world is going to end. And I'm still a vir—"

"No!" both the brothers yelled in unison.

Daemon looked like he was actually going to vomit. "Jesus, don’t ever finish that statement. Actually, don’t ever change that. Thank you."

Her mouth dropped open. "You expect me to never have—"

"This isn’t a conversation I want to start my morning with." Dawson grabbed his book bag off the kitchen table. "I’m so leaving for school before this gets more detailed."

"And why aren’t you dressed yet?" Dee demanded, her full attention concentrated on Daemon. "You’re going to be late."
"I’m always late."
"Punctuality makes perfect.”

MY THOUGHTS

This book was wonderfully written, heart wrenching and witty. This book explained a lot about Daemon and why he acted towards Katy like he did in Obsidian (#1 The Lux Series) and it was really enjoyable to see what Daemon was like before Katy and what his relationship with Ash was like.
It was also very refreshing to see the book from Dawson’s point of view and it was enjoyable to read another book, with a different main love story and Daemon and Dee being the supporting characters.
I loved this story, as sad as it was and as funny as it was in some places, it was a wonderful  read.
